March 20, 2007 guest speaker, Art Shaffer, patent attorney with the Intellectual Property Center is speaking on the process of obtaining a PATENT within one year of making application.
Art built a solid
foundation for becoming a patent attorney starting with a Bachelor of
Science from Kansas State, and using electrical and computer
engineering principals todevelope control systems for large
international projects, including the new Hong Kong Airport.
After a successful
engineering career, he returned to college and earned his Doctor of
Jurisprudence from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, with
emphasis in litigation and the protection of inventors intellectual
rights.
Using his combined legal and engineering knowledge, Art
has represented many small business firms, provided help in roles with
the government, Fortune 500 business and wonderfully represents
individual inventors and entrepreneurs with all the various legal
aspects of copyrights, trademarks and patents that are needed.
Art gives back to
the community in many ways, including volunteering for Service Corps of
Retired Executives (SCORE), mentoring small businesses (and lucky us)
as an Advisory Director of our Inventors Club of K.C.
Art is married and is the father of a darling little one year old...and that keeps him extra busy.
We are looking forward to this opportunity to learn more and hope you can join us.
So, mark your calendars ! We look forward to seeing you, C.J. Boylan
