Cheri is one of the founding members of the Women’s Capital Connection angel investor group and serves on the board of Heartland Business Capital and the Enterprise Center of Johnson County.
In 1986, she fulfilled her dream of starting her own business when she and her husband relocated from Denver to Kansas City to start up a concrete manufacturing company. The company introduced concrete paving stones to the Kansas City region and grew the company to be the largest paving stone producer in the Kansas/Missouri area. They sold the business in 1994 to the national firm, Pavestone. After selling the business, Cheri wanted to share her entrepreneurial expertise and experience with other aspiring business owners, which led to her joining the Small Business Development Center, a non-profit agency of the SBA.
Cheri served as the director of the Small Business Development Center at Johnson County Community College for 11 years and retired in 2008 from JCCC as the dean of continuing education. She currently provides business consulting services to small business owners and non-profit agencies providing services to small businesses. Cheri also specializes in business writing and editing and workshop development.
Cheri majored in foreign languages in college, including Spanish, French and German, and became fluent in Spanish after studying in Mexico. She received an MBA from the University of Denver while employed as an interpreter and export manager for an international industrial products manufacturing company based in Denver.
